From their newsletter:
In the meantime: here are our Next Three Actions.
- Visit Jason Lewis's Burnsville office. Some of us are going on Thursday, Feb 2, departing Northfield at 11:45. But what we learned last week is that it's just as effective to go in groups of two and three as it is to go in groups of 8 or 15. So join us, or go another time with a friend or two!
- It's time to say "NO to the Wall," and "NO to the Muslim registry" and "NO to closing our country to refugees." Once again, let's gather stories and testimony about why we value our immigrant and refugee neighbors (and selves), even as we remember that our main purpose in this organization is to play defense. Let us know if you want to send letters or cards with us.
Whenever you go, take pictures. Take video. Get the staff to promise that Lewis will come to Northfield and meet with us.
If you want to join this action, please reply to this note, and we'll put you all in touch with each other.
- Catchy slogan contest: We need simple phrases as memorable as "lock her up" and "crooked Hillary." ("No Show Lewis" was one suggestion at the first meeting.) They need not be as hateful as those phrases, but they should point out what's wrong with the policies proposed by the Trump administration and supported by Jason Lewis in a catchy, memorable way that rings true to lots of people. Be ready to share at our next full meeting.
- Stay up to date on Jason Lewis's activities, so you can be ready to hold him accountable when you speak to him and his staff in person. Sign up for Google Alerts about Jason Lewis. Here's a guide on how-to do it. And sign up for Lewis' email newsletter via his webpage, on the biography section.
Remember that our next group meeting is Monday, February 13, 7:30-8:30 p.m. at the Friends Meeting House at 512 S. Washington Street, Northfield.
